Knit in Public Day

Join us on Saturday, June 10th 10-5 for tea and scones as we meet on the front porch of the shop and meander onto the Chester Green. Wear your best summer hat! Crocheters welcome too! Be sure to come early and park behind the shop - the Alumni Parade starts at 11:00am too!

World Wide Knit in Public Day is the largest Knitter run event in the world. It started in 2005 and is now celebrated in 57 different countries.

What to bring:
Your fancy hat (or not, your choice), your latest project and a lawn chair! We'll supply snacks and drinks! We have a restroom in the shop.

Backup plan: We can meet in the shop in case of foul weather.

Not a knitter? Not a problem. We will have yarn and needles on hand to teach anyone who wants to learn.

Yarn Kippur

"Bring us your tired, your poor, your tangled messes yearning to break free.  The wretched refuse of your teeming store; bring these hapless, interest-lost to us."  For on this day we will forgive you...

We all have them -- UFO's.  Nope, not unidentified flying objects; but UnFinished Objects.  We have yarn purchased, but never knit; or a sweater started but not completed -- projects that have long since lost their allure.  Forlorn stuff that languishes in the bottoms of knitting baskets, lurks in out-of-the-way drawers and bins.  And all, on the rare occasion when glimpsed, causes us to cringe with guilt and shrink beneath it's burden.

Cringe no more.

Search your closets; go through your baskets.  Bring in the yarn, patterns, needles and projects which you no longer want or are loathe to finish.  Someone else may find inspiration in an item you've grown weary of. Bring something, take something -- a re-distribution of wealth, if you will!
